Coaching
No two runners have the same goals, experience or lives outside running. Your training shouldn’t be the same either.
Adapt starts with understanding you — where you are now, where you want to go and the time you have available. From there, we’ll build training that challenges you when it should, adapts when it needs to and helps you keep progressing.

You probably don't need another training plan.
There are thousands of plans, workouts and training theories out there. The difficult part is knowing what’s right for you.
Adapt gives you personalised training, expert guidance and ongoing feedback — so you know when to push, when to recover and what to change when life or training doesn’t go to plan.
Meet Your Coach
Ryan Wilde
Father. Teacher. Runner. Coach.
Ryan came to running in his late-twenties and quickly discovered the impact it could have; a clearer mind and a healthier body. Yet despite the huge benefits running has on his mental and physical health, getting out for a run isn’t always easy. Balancing a career as a teacher and having a young family means plans regularly have to change.
Over the years, he’s learned how to train seriously without running taking over — when to push, when to back off and when changing the plan is the best thing for your progress. That experience has shaped the way he coaches.

FAQs
-
Your training will be personalised to your experience, goals and the time you have available. Expect a mix of easy running, threshold work, faster sessions and longer runs, with the balance changing depending on what you’re working towards. The focus is always on training you can recover from, repeat and build on over the long term.
-
Yes. Controlled threshold running is an important part of how I approach training, helping you build aerobic fitness without creating unnecessary fatigue. How much you do, how fast you run and how sessions are structured will depend on you rather than being based on a fixed formula.
-
Not at all. Road, trail, track or a bit of all three. Training can incorporate hills and trails alongside more structured road and track sessions, depending on what you enjoy and what you're training for.
-
There isn't a set number. We'll look at what you're currently doing, your goals and, importantly, what realistically fits into your life. More isn't automatically better — the aim is to find a sustainable amount of training that allows you to stay consistent and progress.
-
Nothing falls apart. Plans change. We'll decide whether the session is worth moving, changing or simply leaving behind. One missed workout won't determine your progress; what you do consistently over weeks and months matters much more.
-
No. You might be chasing a PB, preparing for your first race, wanting to explore more trails or simply looking to run consistently and enjoy it. Your goals give the training direction — they don't have to involve a finish line.
-
You’ll have direct access to me through WhatsApp throughout your coaching. Whether you want to talk through a session, ask a question or need to change the week because life has got in the way, you can get in touch. We’ll also use Final Surge to plan, record and review your training.
-
Final Surge is the training platform we’ll use to manage your running. Your personalised training will be added to your calendar, where you can see upcoming sessions, record your runs and leave feedback on how training is going.
You can connect Final Surge with services such as Strava and compatible running watches, making it easy to keep your training in one place. I’ll use it to review your running, track your progress and make changes to your plan as we go.
-
I’ll aim to respond to WhatsApp messages within 24 hours, and often much sooner. Just as importantly, coaching should give you the confidence to make good training decisions yourself. Over time, you’ll develop a better understanding of your training and how to adapt it when life changes — even when I’m not immediately available.
-
Your training is reviewed regularly and updated as you progress. Rather than setting a plan months in advance, we’ll work with a flexible programme that can adapt as your fitness, goals and life change. If something comes up, you don’t need to wait for the next update — we can adjust your training when you need it.
-
Yes. There’s an initial two-month commitment to give us enough time to get to know your running and start building some consistency. After that, you can cancel your coaching at any time. If life means you need to take a break, get in touch and we can discuss the best option for pausing and restarting your coaching.
